Official letter No. 2772/TCHQ-GSQL dated July 7th, 2022 of the General Department of Vietnam Customs regarding handling, destruction of goods being stagnant scraps

Relating to destruction of goods being scraps stagnant at ports, the General Department of Vietnam Customs based on clause 8 Article 2 of Decree No. 102/2021/ND-CP and assigned local Customs Departments to themselves decide the supervision of the destruction by the direct form or indirect form via technical means such as camera system.

With regard to shipping firms that deliberately refuse to comply with the decisions on compulsory destruction of scraps ineligible for import, the General Department of Vietnam Customs requests to stop settling customs procedures and inform Maritime Port Authorities to coordinate in stopping licensing to enter and exit ports according to Article 80 of Decree No. 58/2017/ND-CP .
