In order to prevent fraud on origin, tax evasion with regard to imported Sorbitol Syrup, the General Department of Vietnam Customs requests local customs departments to review, examine these contents:
- The declaration of regulation conformity and food safety inspection under the Law on foods safety, Decree No. 15/2018/ND-CP .
- The labeling of food additives according to Decree No. 43/2017/ND-CP (amended at Decree No. 111/2021/ND-CP ).
- Imported Sorbitol products must be clearly declared use purpose, packing specifications, and properties (liquid, powder, etc.). If the imported Sorbitol products are declared for other purposes (not as food additive), it is required to classify the products into other goods channel, conduct a physical inspection and take samples for identifying specific use purposes as the basis for applying tax policy.
- To inspect, verify origins of goods if enterprises declare origins other than Indonesia, China, or India (for the purpose of evasion of anti-dumping duty under Decision No. 2644/QD-BCT dated November 23rd, 2021).
If enterprises are detected law offenses, fraud, tax evasion or shipments have suspected signs in customs value, labeling or quantity, etc. the customs authorities will put them into high risk group to apply suitable control measures and conduct the post-clearance inspection.
