In the context of increase in import of luxury, high-value autos in the form of gifts, the General Department of Vietnam Customs requests Customs Departments of provinces, cities to strengthen the control of applications for import licenses and applications for import of these autos.
Accordingly, with regard to the application for import license, the auto receiver must declare fully, specifically information about the autos in the written request for import. If there are doubts about the relationship between the giver and the receiver, the latter is requested to provide documents proving the business relationship or sale and purchase relationship such as transactions of goods sale and purchase, payment receipts, contracts, etc.
In case the auto receiver fails to declare full and specific information about the autos or fail to fully provide documents proving the relationship between the giver and the receiver, customs authority shall reject to allow the import.
In case having the following information, signs, It is required to report to the General Department of Vietnam Customs for verification: Donation documents or documents proving the relationship between the giver and the receiver show signs of forgery; It is usually import of autos as gifts.
Upon settling procedures for import of autos, to conduct the physical inspection of the autos to determine the conformity of the imported autos with the import licenses and related documents in the customs documentation.
